A mass strike in France that began on Thursday, March 22, will disrupt rail and air travel, LeParisien reports.
Experts predict a "Black Thursday" in transport and public services in Paris and elsewhere on March 22 French cities. On this day, a major strike of civil servants, as well as railway and air transport workers, will take place. The French intend to express their dissatisfaction with reforms in the sphere of labor legislation.
The train schedule will be seriously disrupted. Many railway companies are joining the protests. Among them are TGV, Intercites, TER. In the Ile-de-France region, only 30% rolling stock will be on the routes. The action will also affect the work of the high-speed public transport RER, which serves Paris and the suburbs. Problems will arise for passengers using lines D, C and B.
According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, 30% flights departing and arriving at Orly, Roissy and Beauvais airports have been cancelled due to the strike. Air traffic disruptions may continue on Friday, March 23.
The Russian company Aeroflot has already cancelled flights SU2462/2463 on the Sheremetyevo-Charles de Gaulle-Sheremetyevo route, scheduled for March 22. At the same time, the carrier replaced the aircraft on another Thursday flight to Charles de Gaulle-Sheremetyevo with a more spacious Airbus A321. This was done to transport passengers of the cancelled flights.
