The Lipetsk police have opened 7 criminal cases under Article 159, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, “Fraud,” against the travel agency “Blue Bird.”
As reported by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Lipetsk Region, in the period from November 2018 to May 2019, the travel agency "Blue Bird" entered into contracts for the provision of tourist services and, through fraud, took possession of funds from residents of the Lipetsk region in the total amount of over 500 thousand rubles.
"The company's management promised the victims to organize excursions and tourist trips, but did not fulfill its contractual obligations to customers. Currently, a range of operational and investigative measures and actions are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the crime, document the illegal activities of the suspects. The sanctions of these articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provide for a maximum punishment of up to five years of imprisonment," the department said in a statement.
In addition, the police have information that there may be more victims.
“Police officers ask anyone who has suffered from such actions by the Blue Bird travel agency to contact the nearest local police department or report information by calling 02,” the Interior Ministry added.
