In the first 9 months of this year, almost 137 thousand Russian tourists vacationed in Croatia, which exceeds the figures for the same period 2018 on 12%. This was discussed during press tour the head of the republic's tourism office in the Russian Federation, Raiko, told a TRN correspondent Ruzicka.
According to him, this growth is partly due to the increased popularity of Turkey. "The fact is that now we see that European tourists have partially reoriented themselves to Turkish resorts. Against this background, the hotel base of Croatia has partially unloaded. As a result, if last year Russian tourists could not always find places in hotels and apartments, now there is no such problem. In fact, Europeans have freed up space for other markets, including the Russian one," explained Rajko Ruzicka, emphasizing that at the moment, Croatia is actively expanding its hotel base, so in the next few years the issue of a shortage of places can be resolved.
Speaking about the regions that are popular with Russians, the head of the republic’s tourism office noted that Istria occupies the leading position, followed by Dolmatia.
