Roskomnadzor conducted inspections at VFS Global visa centers, during which it checked whether the company complied with the requirements of the law on personal data. The corresponding message was published on the agency's website.
“In connection with media publications about the activities "Roskomnadzor conducted an express assessment of the legality of the processing of personal data of Russian citizens in Russia by the said visa center (VFS International Visa Center, LLC), operating in the Russian Federation (VFS Services LLC), Roskomnadzor stated, explaining that the activities of VFS Services LLC are the subject of international agreements on visa support and are carried out on the basis of agreements concluded with diplomatic missions. Russian legislation provides legal grounds for this type of personal data processing.
However, no violations were found: VFS Global provided Roskomnadzor with the necessary information about the measures taken to ensure the confidentiality and security of the processed personal data of Russian tourists.
"The cross-border transfer of Russian citizens' data is mainly carried out to countries that provide adequate protection of personal data. Thus, in the activities of OOO VEF Services there are no facts indicating a violation of the rights and legitimate interests of Russian citizens in the sphere of personal data," the department concluded.
