Russian President Vladimir Putin has transferred regulatory functions in the tourism sector to the Ministry of Economic Development, Interfax reports.

“Transfer to the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation the functions of developing and implementing state policy and normative-legal regulation in the sphere of tourism and tourist activities, on coordination of activities on implementation of priority directions of state regulation of tourist activities in the Russian Federation, as well as on implementation of state supervision over the activities of tour operators and associations of tour operators in the sphere of outbound tourism,” says the presidential decree, posted on Monday on the legal information portal.

“To establish that the Federal Agency for Tourism is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation,” the statement says.

“To declare clause 10 invalid in the part concerning the transfer of functions for coordinating activities for the implementation of priority areas of state regulation of tourism activities in the Russian Federation to the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation,” the text of the decree states, in particular.
