On January 12, the first regional semi-final of the presidential platform’s Masters of Hospitality competition opened in the city-hotel “Barkhatnye Sezony” in Sochi. The semi-final will involve 113 contestants from Krasnodar Krai and other regions of Russia who showed the best results at the remote testing stage and presented their projects related to the tourism industry.
The opening ceremony of the semi-final was attended by the General Director of the ANO "Russia - Country of Opportunities" Alexey Komissarov and the president of OSIG Grant Babasyan.

"Residents of 15 regions are participating in the tests today and tomorrow. Among the semi-finalists, the largest number are from Krasnodar - 72 people. In second place are residents of Rostov - 16, in third place are residents of Moscow (14 people). The easternmost region - Zabaikalsky Krai - is represented by one contestant. Representatives of absolutely all areas of the tourism industry are participating in the "Masters of Hospitality" competition. Among the participants of the semi-final "Olympic" today are "Best Amateur Guide of Russia-2018", a travel mom, a bike collector, authors of a travel blog (two twin brothers), "Best Tour Guide of Sochi-2019", tourism instructors, hotel employees," he noted.
At the semi-final, the contestants will solve individual and group analytical tasks, present their projects, and participate in training and communication events with invited experts. Over the course of two days — February 12 and 13 — the contest participants will undergo a comprehensive assessment of their business and personal qualities.
"One of the conditions for reaching the semi-finals of the "Masters of Hospitality" competition is the development of an original project related to the tourism industry. During the remote stage, participants presented 1,567 initiatives in the hospitality industry. They will be assessed by experts, and the best will undergo acceleration," said the competition mentor, president of the National Union of the Hospitality Industry, general director of the resort complex Mriya Resort & Spa Grant Babasyan.

Based on the results of the semi-finals, the best contestants will be determined, who will take part in the final of the project. The semi-finals of "Masters of Hospitality" will be held in February-March in 8 more cities of Russia: Tula, Pyatigorsk, Samara, Yalta, Ufa, Salekhard, Kaliningrad and Irkutsk.
“Based on the results of the semi-finals, only 200 semi-finalists will be invited to the final tests and only 50 will receive the title of “Master of Hospitality,” recalled the general director of ANO “Russia – Country of Opportunities” Alexey Komissarov at the opening ceremony of the competition.
"Almost every finalist will receive a prize - grants for project implementation, certificates for training in Skolkovo, at the Travel Business School, at the Sletat.ru Academy will be drawn in the final. 50 people will be able to take part in the mentoring program. The goal of the project is to reveal the potential of professionals, form new traditions, improve service standards and the prestige of professions in the fields of tourism and hospitality. The winners will be 50 contestants. All of them will be able to participate in a mentoring program with industry leaders and government officials. 25 of them will also receive a certificate for a special educational program at the Moscow School of Management "Skolkovo". The "Masters of Hospitality" competition is held in several stages: registration and selection stage, regional semi-finals and the final. Following the application campaign, more than 20,000 participants registered for the competition. As part of the selection stage (online testing), competition experts assessed general and professional knowledge, intellectual abilities and management competencies.
Regional semi-finals will be held from February to April in 9 regions of Russia. The final will take place in April 2020 and will bring together 200 industry experts. The winners will be mentored by renowned restaurateurs, hoteliers and hospitality managers. The best projects of the competition can be implemented with the support of the Federal Passenger Company, Rostourism and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation.
