Another 'very strong' earthquake hits Indonesia

Another earthquake has occurred on the Indonesian island of Lombok. Experts assess it as "very strong", Tribun Bali reports.

Early Tuesday morning, September 11, 50 km northeast of the city of Mataram on the coast of Lombok Island An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale occurred. The epicenter of the tremors, according to seismologists, was at a depth of 10 kilometers. Based on the intensity of the shaking, it was assessed as "very strong." Residents of Mataram, as well as some areas of East and North Lombok, said that the tremors were felt for several seconds.

There are currently no reports of damage caused by the earthquake. Authorities are also not warning of a possible tsunami. Experts recommend that anyone in the dangerous area remain calm.

In early August, Lombok Island experienced a series of strong earthquakes, which killed about 500 people. Almost 8,000 people were injured, tens of thousands of houses and other buildings were destroyed. More than 2,000 tourists were evacuated.

It should be noted that this island is popular among holidaymakers due to its proximity to the popular resorts of Bali and Gili Islands.
