Taiwan has become visa-free for Russians for the next 10 months

Russians can enter and stay in Taiwan for up to 14 days without a visa from September 6, 2018 to July 31, 2019, RIA Novosti reports, citing a statement from the island's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The Taiwan government, in order to promote tourism on the island, "In order to promote knowledge and understanding of Taiwan among Russians, as well as to strengthen trade and economic relations with Russia, the decision was made to allow Russian citizens to travel to the island without visas for up to 14 days as part of an experiment," the statement said.

It is noted that the visa-free regime applies to trips for the purposes of tourism, business, participation in exhibitions, and visiting relatives.

Taiwan is an island in the Pacific Ocean, 150 km from the east coast of China. The high tourist season lasts from September to May. There are no direct flights from Moscow to the island's capital, Taipei. Tickets with a transfer in Beijing will cost 57,000 rubles. You can relax by the sea at the resorts of Hualien and Fulong. The cost of a week's accommodation in a 5-star hotel in Hualien is 45,000 rubles.
