Airline airBaltic introduced a baggage-free fare on the Riga-Moscow route from April 4. Until now, the company offered baggage-free fares from Moscow only on connecting routes via Riga to other countries, reminds our own correspondent Travel.ru.
Direct flights Moscow – Riga were excluded from the baggage-free fares program due to a codeshare agreement with Aeroflot, which flies on the same route. Now that the Russian carrier itself has begun moving towards baggage-free tickets, airBaltic has found it possible to introduce them on the Moscow route.
airBaltic's minimum one-way baggage-free fare on the Moscow-Riga route is called Basic, from April 4th it is 99 euros and does not include anything except 8 kilograms of hand luggage (another 4 kilograms can be purchased for 9 euros). Adding baggage to the baggage-free fare costs 30 euros online and 60 euros at the airport. Check-in must be done online (check-in at the airport costs 35 euros), seat selection on the plane starts from 7 euros.
The next tariff level (Premium) is 40 euros more expensive and also includes 1 piece of luggage up to 20 kilograms. It also includes free seat selection, free check-in at the airport and the ability to return or change the ticket with payment of fees and surcharges.
In the future, airBaltic intends to introduce baggage-free fares on the Riga-Kazan route. Previously, baggage-free fares appeared on all other routes of the company, including some Russian ones – to St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Sochi.
