Israel plans to welcome 5 million tourists next year

In 2020, the Israeli authorities plan to receive 5 million tourists. This was announced by the head of the Israeli Ministry of Tourism in the Russian Federation and the CIS, Vladimir Shklyar.

"Last year we welcomed our four millionth tourist. It is important to note that the three millionth tourist arrived to Israel in 2017, and the two millionth - 22 years before that. That is, from 2 to 3 million took 22 years, and from 3 to 4 million - one year. There is no doubt, I hope that if not this year, then maybe next year we will receive the five millionth tourist. This will truly be a very important event for the country," he said, Interfax reports.

In addition, he also noted that the number of pilgrimage tourists from Russia is only 7%.

"I used to think that most Russian tourists were pilgrims, because you could hear Russian spoken everywhere in the Old City of Jerusalem. But that was only in the Old City. It turns out that pilgrim tourists make up less than 7%," he added.

Let us recall that earlier it also became known that from October 22, Pobeda Airlines will begin operating regular flights on the Moscow-Eilat route.
