Pobeda Airlines, which calls itself a low-cost airline, intends to change its airport in Dubai. In addition, the company will suspend flights to the UAE and Israel for almost five months in the summer, reports Travel.ru's own correspondent.
At the end of March, the carrier will leave Dubai's main airport, located relatively close to the city center. From March 29, Pobeda will fly to Al Maktoum (World Central), located outside the city.
The frequency will remain the same – four flights a week, but the schedule will be shifted a few hours later, with departures from Moscow at 10.45 or 11.55, and back at 17.50 or 19.00. These flights to Dubai are scheduled only until May 11, and flights to Eilat in Israel – until May 12.
The resumption of flights to both cities, according to the Pobeda website, is expected in October. The suspension of flights is probably explained by the traditional decline in demand for trips to resorts in Israel and the UAE in the summer, when it is too hot there. A number of other carriers are doing the same – Aeroflot, for example, is cutting its summer offer to Dubai by about half.
Pobeda called the airport change “great news” on its social media and said that Al Maktoum Airport “makes it very easy to get to the most popular areas of Dubai. This means you don’t have to buy an expensive transfer and waste time looking for a suitable route.”
However, Pobeda passengers inspired by the “great news” will still have to spend time on the road. The journey by public transport from Al Maktoum to the city center takes an hour and a half, with a transfer from the bus to the metro.
