Japanese airline ANA intends to open flights from Tokyo to Moscow next year. The carrier intends to fly from Haneda Airport, which is located closest to the center of Tokyo. In Moscow, ANA intends to use Domodedovo Airport, Travel.ru's own correspondent reports.
The company promises to publish the exact schedule, launch date, flight frequency and other details in a month. Ticket sales will also begin then. The flight will open in the summer schedule (not earlier than the end of March).
Let us recall that Domodedovo could be left without Tokyo flights from the end of March next year, when another Japanese airline, JAL, is going to move to Sheremetyevo. At the same time, its move is also dictated by the desire to fly to Moscow from Haneda Airport instead of the currently used Narita Airport, which is further from the center of Tokyo.
Japanese transport authorities demand that airlines not only change Narita to Haneda, but that the route from Narita continue to operate. JAL does not need two flights to Moscow from different airports, but the company has found a way out. It lies in concluding a codeshare agreement with Aeroflot, which flies from Sheremetyevo to Narita. In this case, JAL will be able to sell tickets for these Aeroflot flights, thereby formally keeping this route in its schedule and fulfilling the condition of the Japanese authorities. The consequence of such an agreement with Aeroflot will be the transition of JAL itself to Sheremetyevo. It is likely that the future codeshare agreement will also include connections in Sheremetyevo with domestic Russian and possibly European Aeroflot flights.
As a result, passengers from Moscow will likely receive two flights to Haneda Airport, which was previously inaccessible from Russia, starting next summer. The first will be a JAL flight transferred to Sheremetyevo, and the second will be a new ANA flight. In addition to its proximity to central Tokyo, Haneda also has significantly more options for connecting flights on domestic Japanese routes.
Aeroflot, for which domestic connections within Japan are less critical, will continue to fly to Narita Airport. The company will also open flights to another major city in the country, Osaka, next year. Let us recall that JAL and ANA intend to open flights from Tokyo and to Vladivostok soon. The sharp increase in the frequency of flights to Japan is due to a significant simplification of visa requirements for Russian citizens visiting Japan.
