Experts find out whether news about epidemics in the world influences Russians' travel plans

Service online booking hotels Ostrovok.ru invited social media users to tell whether they are changing their vacation plans because of the emergence of an epidemic in any country. The opinions of Russians were divided: the majority of those surveyed admitted that they do not accept decision immediately, but follow the developments until the last minute and decide on the eve of the trip (34%). A similar number of respondents (34%) said that they would cancel a planned trip to a region where the virus was detected.

At the same time, 12% tourists admitted that they would go on a planned trip in any case - and, as it turned out, men were more determined than women: 20% men and only 7% women said they were ready to go on vacation no matter what.

Another 15% of respondents are confident that news about epidemics is usually greatly exaggerated by the media, so such reports will not affect their plans in any way.

At the same time, 9% tourists take a more cautious position and prefer to cancel all planned trips in the near future (10% women and 8% men).

For 3% respondents, the financial factor was the deciding factor – so many respondents do not cancel their trip because they do not want to lose money for a paid vacation.

1,500 respondents took part in the survey; the survey allowed choosing multiple answers.
