Russia is ready to move towards a gradual lifting of restrictions on Georgia. This was announced by the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs Leonid Kalashnikov following a meeting with representatives of the opposition faction of the Georgian parliament "Alliance of Patriots of Georgia".
"Russia is ready to move in every way towards a gradual lifting of restrictions. I know this. I often talk, including with officials," he said, Interfax reports.
During the dialogue with representatives of Georgia, he also noted that the issue of the possible abolition of visas was discussed, provided that the Georgian authorities are also ready for this.
In addition, he recalled that the State Duma recently adopted a statement to the Russian government with a request to introduce special economic measures against Georgia.
"In many ways, this statement meant that if you understand and draw conclusions, then we are ready to return to this path of cooperation. I am sure that there should be no other result," Leonid Kalashnikov added.
Let us recall that on July 8, a law banning direct flights between Russia and Georgia came into force.
