Study: Interest in short 2-4 night trips growing

One of the trends in tourism is the growing interest of travelers in short trips (2-4 nights with a flight). The travel service Tutu.ru decided to measure tourists' love for such trips. More than one and a half thousand respondents took part in the survey.

As the company told the TRN portal, in general, the majority (65%) have a positive attitude towards such trips. A third of respondents (29%) admitted that they are happy to fly if they “caught” cheap air tickets. 8% fly on short inexpensive tours. 15% would be happy to arrange such a mini-vacation for themselves and fly somewhere, but so far it has not worked out. Those who like short trips, but get to the place not by plane, but by car, train or bus turned out to be 14%.

35% respondents were against 2-4 night trips with a flight. Of these, 12% believed that this was an unnecessary waste of money, and 23% responded that they preferred to take a full vacation and rest for at least a week.

Analysis of data on tours and airline tickets purchased on Tutu.ru confirms the trend.

"In general, there is demand for short tours (2-4 days). In terms of package tours, they account for approximately 10% of our sales. In 2018, we observed a slight decline in popularity, but since the beginning of this year, people have again started asking for weekend tours. Basically, of course, these are trips around Russia, or to countries without a visa and with a short flight: to Turkey, Cyprus. Short trips are also popular, for example, among those wishing to visit the Czech Republic," says Anastasia Shtripling, head of the Tours project at the Tutu.ru travel service. "As for signature tours, a quarter of the offers are designed for weekends. Their popularity in this segment is probably due to people's need to spend their short weekends in an active and unusual way, and the rich programs of signature tours are aimed exactly at this."
