Volcano Eruption in Bali: Russians to Be Transported to Neighboring Islands

According to media reports, the second eruption of the Agung volcano in a week began on the island of Bali on November 26. A column of smoke rose to a height of 4,000 meters, due to which the Indonesian disaster management agency assigned the erupting volcano the maximum fourth danger level, and due to the accumulation of ash, from 6:00 Monday (1:00 Moscow time) the Denpasar International Airport was closed for 24 hours and all flights were cancelled, Rostourism reports.

There are currently about 60,000 tourists in Bali, of which about 300 are Russians. The Russian Foreign Ministry's DSCC has not received any information about injured Russian tourists. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry's DSCC, Russian tourists will be transported by ferries to neighboring islands before the airport opens.

The Federal Tourism Agency is monitoring the situation and is in contact with the Russian Foreign Ministry's DSC. Rostourism calls on Russian tourists in Bali to remain calm, observe personal safety measures, and follow the instructions of local authorities.
