From January 27 to February 13, Venice will host one of the most famous and popular carnivals in the world, annually attracting more than half a million tourists.
The Venice Carnival will begin on Saturday, January 27, with a show on water and land in the Cannaregio district.According to tradition, the following day a historic procession of decorated boats will pass through the canals.
On February 3, the Piazza San Marco will host a carnival costume competition and the Festa delle Marie parade. The famous angel will descend from the bell tower onto the crowded Piazza San Marco on February 4.
The entertainment program of the main carnival week – from February 7 to 13 – will be filled with events, celebrations, processions and parades. During the carnival, throughout the territory of Venice, city and private cultural institutions and organizations are preparing a rich program: concerts, conferences, exhibitions, theater and film festivals.
Tourists can take part in the carnival procession and the competition for the best costume, having previously rel=”nofollow”>registered on the carnival website, reports our own correspondent Travel.ru.
