The Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the Republic of Crimea has issued a storm warning for the region in connection with an approaching Atlantic cyclone.
“Due to the passage of a fast-moving Atlantic cyclone on February 24 and the night of February 25 in Crimea “Difficult weather conditions are expected: heavy rain, wet snow, very heavy precipitation in places, ice and frost deposits, icy roads, very strong southwesterly winds changing to northwesterly winds of 25–30 m/s,” the statement said.
In addition, the Crimean Ministry of Emergency Situations recommends that residents and tourists observe safety measures:
- Drivers should be extremely careful on the roads and, if possible, avoid using their own vehicles;
- boat captains and fishing enthusiasts will refrain from going out to sea and inland waters;
- limit access to mountainous forest areas;
- do not stay near the sea coastline during a storm;
- do not locate near billboards, large structures, road signs, or large trees;
- In bad weather, pay special attention to the safety of children and the elderly, be attentive to those around you.
