Russian Railways (RZD) reported a record passenger flow in rail traffic between Russia and Finland.
“The parties expressed satisfaction with the results of cooperation and noted the record high in the history of the railway "The passenger traffic indicator for the connection between Russia and Finland: almost 640 thousand people were transported in 2019, which is 16% more than the year before. In particular, 557.3 thousand passengers used the Allegro trains St. Petersburg - Helsinki (+15.7% compared to 2018), the Lev Tolstoy train and additional trains on the Moscow - Helsinki route - 81.6 thousand passengers (+18.6% compared to 2018)," the company's press service reported.
In addition, the Chairman of the Board of JSC Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov noted that there are significant reserves for further growth in passenger traffic indicators, one of which is the precise implementation of the train schedule.
In turn, the Minister of International Development and Foreign Trade of Finland, Ville Skinnari, noted that repair work on the maintenance of railway infrastructure is actively underway in Finland.
