Survey: How Russian tourists choose a hotel on holiday

The travel service Tutu.ru asked tourists how they choose a hotel when going on holiday, and what is most important to them when choosing one. Travelers chose from ten options. About 1.5 thousand people took part in the survey.

How The company's press service told the TRN portal that for almost a third of respondents (29%), the most important thing is the price per room. It is more important than the convenient location of the hotel. Proximity to the sea or attractions wins over a quarter of travelers. 21% pay attention to ratings, assessments and reviews.

And the absence of compatriots in the hotel turned out to be more important than free wi-fi. The following criteria received an equal number of votes: the availability of the "all inclusive" system and the possibility of free cancellation of the reservation.

Survey data «What do you think is the most important thing when choosing a hotel?«:

  • 29% — price per room;
  • 24% - convenient location (close to the sea, attractions);
  • 21% - ratings, assessments, reviews;
  • 7% - absence of compatriots;
  • 6% - all-inclusive system;
  • 6% - possibility of free cancellation of reservation;

By the way, last year Tutu.ru found out how travelers feel about hotels with a “negative reputation”. The service’s users answered the question: “Are you ready to stay in hotels with bad reviews?” 48% answered that it all depends on what other travelers criticize about the hotel. For example, some people are not put off by bad breakfasts or the distance from the center, but these people cannot stand the noise outside the window. 39% respondents were more categorical. They chose the option “if there are a lot of negative reviews, then I will not stay in such a hotel”. 9% are ready to turn a blind eye to negative reviews if the price and living conditions are attractive. A minority (4%) admitted that they do not read reviews so as not to set themselves up for negativity before their vacation.
