The concept of rest is individual for everyone - some are used to spending a lot of money on entertainment and not denying themselves anything, while for others it is enough to take a backpack with a minimum set of food and go on an exciting hiking trip.
In Sochi you can get recreation for every taste and budget. But if we talk about hiking, then here is a huge potential for this type of recreation. Hiking enthusiasts rush to Sochi in the off-season, when it is not so hot and the mountains offer stunning views.
Tracking, that's what they call it in professional language Hiking, is always filled with events and the spirit of adventure. After all, it gives the opportunity to come into contact with nature, see rare landscapes, and even try yourself in overcoming various obstacles and difficulties.
In principle, a well-prepared traveler is not afraid of any obstacles - neither steep passes, nor taiga wilderness. All paths are passable if you have experience, and if you don't have experience, then it is better to choose easy routes for a start.
Anyone can go hiking. After all, the difficulty of the route depends only on how the route is composed. Consequently, a hike is not always an exhausting march of several dozen kilometers with a huge backpack. For example, one- or two-day hikes are available to absolutely everyone, since both the length of such a route and the amount of equipment will be small, and the health benefits and pleasure that such a walk will bring are invaluable.
A large number of hiking trails in the Sochi mountains are concentrated in the Krasnaya Polyana area. Both simple one-day routes and those requiring special training are open to visitors. You can start with the "Health Trail" at Rosa Khutor. This is perhaps the easiest and most gentle trail at the resort. It starts near the beach at the end of Rosa Khutor. On this trail, you can test your strength before a serious hike, or you can simply take a walk through the picturesque forest with your children.
Another fairly easy route is a hike to the Achipse Fortress. This is a classic, but at the same time easy route, the beginning of which is located right in the village of Esto-Sadok. You can climb to the fortress on your own, or with a guide to learn more about the places to visit. The climb to the ruins of the ancient Byzantine fortress of the 9th century takes no more than half an hour, and then you can walk through the picturesque forest.
But there are also much longer routes in Krasnaya Polyana. For example, a hike to the Polikarya waterfall. This waterfall is the highest in Sochi with a drop of 70 meters, it is located on the territory of Gorki Gorod. One and a half to two hours on foot along the technological road and you are there. The waterfall welcomes visitors until the end of autumn, because it does not dry up even in the hottest time of the year.
We have told you about only a small part of the hiking routes in Sochi, and there are a huge number of them. You can see all the routes Here.
