This year, about 400 thousand tourists visited the Arkhangelsk region. Compared to last year's data, the tourist flow has grown by 5%. This was reported by the deputy minister of culture of the region for tourism development Svetlana Zenovskaya.
“According to estimates, in 2018 The region was visited by about 400 thousand tourists: an increase of 5%, there is a trend towards an increase in the share of independent tourists,” she noted.
She also said that most tourists come from Moscow and St. Petersburg, but also from Tyumen, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Vologda, Yaroslavl, and Murmansk regions.
According to her, tourists from more than 40 countries stayed in hotels and inns, the majority, of course, from European countries, TASS reports.
"Over the first nine months of 2018, the number of foreign tourists increased by 400 people compared to the same period in 2017; according to the forecast, their number for the year will be 9 thousand people. According to information from tour operators in the region, foreign guests are increasingly interested in northern villages. Thus, this year, tourists from abroad purchased tours with visits to the villages of Primorsky - the village of Pustosh, Voznesenye - and Kholmogorsky districts; walks along the White Sea coast on Yagry Island are also of interest to foreigners," said Svetlana Zenovskaya.
