Water supply to the northern districts of Gelendzhik is hampered by drought in the Krasnodar region. The volume of water in the water intake has decreased by half compared to previous years, which is why the resort authorities are introducing a schedule for water supply to the population at the height of the tourist season.
The water supply restrictions will affect both Gelendzhik and the villages of Kabardinka and Divnomorskoye, TASS reports. The city's mayor, Viktor Khristian, apologized to tourists and resort residents for the inconveniences that have arisen.
It was previously reported that utility networks in resort towns in Krasnodar Krai are seriously worn out and may not be able to withstand the load. On July 6, in Gelendzhik, which accounts for a quarter of the region's tourist flow, a sewage pumping station failed, which is why swimming in the bay is prohibited.
