German Railways is testing a ban on alcohol consumption at train stations. The six-month test is being conducted from November 1 to April 30 at the Regensburg train station, reports our own correspondent Travel.ru.
The ban covers both the actual consumption of alcohol, including beer, and the possession of open cans or bottles by passengers. Sealed cans and bottles that passengers simply carry somewhere are permitted. Drinking alcohol in station cafes is also permitted.
Violators of the ban face a fine. If the testing is deemed successful, the experiment could be extended to other train stations in Germany.
