Komsomolsk-on-Amur's only airport has suspended operations

Since January 23, Khurba Airport has suspended operations in Komsomolsk-on-Amur due to flight safety violations.

As reported by the press service of the Government of Khabarovsk Krai, the airport needs to eliminate flight safety shortcomings, identified by Rosaviatsia. It is noted that the comments were related to the organization of search, rescue and fire-fighting operations.

"In this case, it is wrong to say that the airport's certificate has been revoked. The Federal Agency, the Transport Prosecutor's Office and our ministry recommended that the management eliminate the violations. We cannot do anything else in this case, since this is a private organization. But we are closely monitoring the situation. Passengers can contact the airlines to return their money for tickets in the established manner. As of today, JSC Aurora has suspended the Komsomolsk-on-Amur - Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk flight. Khabarovsk Airlines will most likely operate direct flights from Khabarovsk without landing at Khurba Airport. These are flights to Chumikan, Bogorodskoye, Kherpuchi, Nikolaevsk-on-Amur," said Maxim Prokhorov, Acting Minister of Transport and Road Activities of Khabarovsk Krai.

As reported by TASS, Maxim Prokhorov added that although the airport is not very busy, it is an important link between Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

Let us add that flights to the city were carried out several times a week by airlines such as Khabarovsk Airlines and Aurora.
