On September 10, the 25th exhibition and conference "Leisure 2019" opened at Expocentre. This year, more than 50 countries and 40 Russian regions are represented at the event.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Alla Manilova, President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry Sergey Shpilko, Vice President of the RTU Yuri Barzykin, Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia Maya Lomidze, Senator Igor Fomin, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Sergey Krivonosov and others.
As Alla Manilova emphasized, at the moment the ministry is placing a special emphasis on excursion tourism in Russia.
"We have begun to seriously engage in promoting museums, because 80% of foreign tourist flow is cultural tourism. Russian travelers also really like excursion programs - they make up about 50% of the total domestic tourist flow," she said, adding that next year the Ministry of Culture will present a new excursion route "In the Footsteps of Peter the Great", created jointly with the Council of Europe.
According to the head of STA, Sergei Golov, Otdykh-2019 has gathered the maximum number of stands where Russian participants are represented, which is a positive trend.
"Domestic tourism is really receiving a lot of attention now. The fact that Elena Vyacheslavovna Lysenko, adviser to the head of Rostourism, was present at the opening of the exhibition only confirms this. There are many unique places in Russia that can and should be visited. At the same time, the prices for such trips are becoming more affordable every year. Domestic tourism has enormous potential and opens up new horizons for the development of our country," he noted.
Let us recall that on September 11, on the sidelines of the largest Russian autumn tourism exhibition and forum OTDYKH 2019, TRN Group and Euroexpo will hold the 8th technology conference for tourism industry professionals — OTDYKH Travel Technology Conference.
On the final day of the forum-exhibition, the topic of discussion will be event tourism and the volunteer movement. Experts will discuss the impact of significant events - the Sochi Olympics (2014) and the 2018 World Cup - on domestic and inbound tourism, volunteer contributions, and the potential of tourist destinations.
