Tips for tourists

Obergurgl, Austria

Obergurgl is called the "diamond of the Alps". Unlike noisy Sölden, it is much quieter and cozier here. The village is located at an altitude of 1930 m, in the Ötztal Alps. Its population is only 400 people, but it receives thousands of tourists every year. We noticed that this resort is very popular with Germans and Dutch.

The Festkoglbahn cable car is located at the very entrance to Obergurgl. There is also a huge parking lot, basically the only one here. The rest belong to hotels and shops.

A 6-person gondola takes you to a height of 2,650 m. The station is called Festkogl Alm.

Obergurgl is considered a resort for confident skiers, but nevertheless there are several good blue runs, wide and well prepared. And if you consider that there is no rush here, as in Sölden on the Giggijoch massif, then skiing is a pleasure.

At the top is the restaurant Quattro Festkoglbahn, which was opened in December 2013 in cooperation with Audi. And while my husband was exploring new routes, my baby and I were sitting on the open sunny terrace. Dania was sleeping, I was taking pictures:)

Here is a couple of skiers. They are relaxing after skiing. Isn't it wonderful to relax and enjoy such a view of the mountains after a busy day?

The interior of the restaurant. Typical Alpine style, cozy and homely.

Although Obergurgl does not have such a variety of trails as in Sölden, my husband really liked it here.

I already know who will teach my son to snowboard;)

The ski area is open on Obergurgl from 9am to 4pm. Snow is guaranteed here from October to April. In addition to the slopes, there are cross-country ski trails and a huge toboggan run. But it is located in the neighboring village of Hochgurgl.

While we were going down, I took this photo - two cabins in love;))
