1% Russians will celebrate the New Year abroad, while 89% will celebrate it at home, in the country, or visiting friends. These data were published by VTsIOM on Thursday, December 21.
A week and a half before the New Year, VTsIOM published the results of a study on the results of 2017 and Russians' hopes for the future. One of the questions concerned the New Year's Eve celebration.
The survey showed that 78% Russians plan to celebrate the New Year at home, 8% as guests, 3% at their dacha, one percent each in a restaurant or nightclub, in a boarding house or holiday home outside the city, and abroad. 4% respondents do not plan to celebrate the New Year.
If the VTsIOM data is correct, then with a population of almost 150 million people, approximately 1,500,000 of our compatriots will go abroad. Considering that on average one plane holds about 150 passengers, then 10,000 planes will be needed to transport this entire percentage.
On average, slightly less than 1,000 flights depart from Moscow daily. Thus, at least 10 days are needed to transport all Russian citizens for New Year's holidays abroad. Or almost all New Year's holidays together with the weekends.
As TURIZM.RU wrote earlier, 107.3 million Americans plan to celebrate Christmas and New Year away from home. However, most of them travel within their own country.
