Skis, poles and snowboards will fly for free

Aeroflot Airlines will transport its passengers' ski equipment free of charge from November 1. This was reported on Monday, October 30, on the carrier's official website.

Winter sports enthusiasts using the airline's services will be able to take along with their luggage carry one additional set of equipment weighing up to 23 kg. This includes either a pair of skis with poles and boots, or a snowboard with boots.

Aeroflot's statement notes that additional space for skis is provided during check-in if the aircraft has the technical capacity. In addition, it is not taken into account when calculating the excess baggage fee and is not indicated on the ticket. The promotion is valid from November 1, 2017 to May 15, 2018.

In addition, the carrier’s subsidiary airlines, Pobeda, Rossiya and Aurora, will also transport skis and snowboards free of charge during the winter season.

We would like to add that all year round you can also transport your ski equipment free of charge on UTair flights. Traditionally, Siberia and Ural Airlines take the kits on board free of charge. However, some companies do not offer this offer for baggage-free fares.

Among the foreign carriers that transport ski equipment free of charge are Lufthansa, Air France, and KLM.
