Sochi mountain resorts are opening their slopes for winter skiing enthusiasts, Interfax reports.
The ski season will start in the next few days at the Krasnaya Polyana resorts. On Friday, December 15, a new cable car will be launched at Rosa Khutor "Daphne", and 8 km of new ski runs will open. Thus, the length of the ski area will reach 102 km. The resort's press service notes that this season the evening ski area will double, two snow parks with ski jumps for snowboarding and alpine skiing will be opened. In the upcoming season, a new hotel with a thermal area and an outdoor heated pool with a view of the Pseashkho ridge will open at Rosa Khutor.
The Gazprom ski resort intends to officially open the ski season on December 23. And from December 15, test skiing will begin on blue (H, H1) and green (I, C, E) slopes. The Gorki Gorod resort opened the season on December 2. However, for now, only the red and black slopes in the Circus-2 and Circus-3 zones, which are located at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters above sea level, are available to skiers and snowboarders. The blue slopes, located at an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level, will be launched next weekend.
Let us recall that the cost of one day of skiing at the Rosa Khutor resort for an adult is 1,425 rubles. At Gorki Gorod and Gazprom, a one-day ski pass will cost 1,500 and 1,600 rubles, respectively.
At the moment, the air temperature at the Krasnaya Polyana resorts is above zero. Thus, at an altitude of 960 meters, it is cloudy +3 °C, at an altitude of 1600 meters + 5 °C, no precipitation. The wind is south-east and east. The thickness of the snow cover at an altitude above 2,000 meters reaches 166 cm, at 1,600 meters - 130 meters.
