Asian airports have been named the best in the world by the authoritative British research company Skytrax. CNN Travel reports.
British experts analyzed the reviews of more than a million passengers about 500 airports around the world and determined the leaders of the annual World award Airport Awards Skytrax, called the "Oscars of the aviation industry". The first four places in the British ranking were taken by the aviation hubs of the Asian region. For the ninth year in a row, Singapore Changi Airport was recognized as the best. In 2017, it received 60 million passengers from almost 100 countries. Among the services provided by the airport are two free 24-hour cinemas, a rooftop pool and a garden with blooming sunflowers.
Not a single new airport has appeared in the top 10 over the past year. However, Incheon International Airport in Seoul has risen to second place. Last year’s silver winner, Tokyo Haneda International Airport, is third. Fourth place goes to Hong Kong Airport, and Hamad Airport in the capital of Qatar rounds out the top five. Next come Munich International Airport, Chubu Centrair in the Japanese city of Nagoya, London Heathrow, Zurich and Frankfurt airports.
Experts also noted Rome Fiumicino Airport, which ranked 158th in 2017 and reached 85th place this year. In addition, Skytrax announced winners in specific nominations. Tokyo International Airport won the vote as the cleanest airport in the world, Incheon Airport was awarded for the best team. Hong Kong Airport was recognized as the best transit airport in the world, and Hong Kong cafes and restaurants were also highly praised.
