Tour operators in Germany have begun to formulate plans for next year, 2018. The German industry publication FVW has published the summer program of the fourth largest travel company in the country, FTI.
German tour operator FTI after significant growth in turnover and number of clients in 2017 is planning to expand its presence on Mediterranean routes. According to the company's managing director Ralf Schiller, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Spain including the Balearic and Canary Islands, as well as Cyprus and Greece were popular with German tourists this season. Turkey had good results. The eastern Mediterranean is selling well for the winter of 2017/18 thanks to its good price-quality ratio.
Egypt is expected to be the focus of attention again in summer 2018 with 132 weekly flights, including full charters from regional airports such as Friedrichshafen and Memmingen in southern Germany. Majorca and Antalya are also said to be favourites for the upcoming summer season. FTI will also increase volumes on several other destinations, including Morocco (Agadir), Turkey (Bodrum) and Dubai. New offerings from the German tour operator include Malta and Montenegro.
R. Schiller also commented on the issue of the cost of holidays in 2018. According to him, prices will remain mostly stable, but trips to the Balearics and Canaries may become more expensive.
