Popularity of foreign children's camps fell last summer

Foreign children's camps lost their popularity in 2018. According to the Russian Union of Travel Industry, the number of bookings, compared to last year, fell by another 11%. This is reported by Interfax.

The most popular regions for children's recreation This year, the Moscow Region, Krasnodar Region, Leningrad Region and Crimea became the leaders. The number of people wishing to spend their holidays in Russian children's camps in 2018 increased by 8%. Experts explain this fact by the significant weakening of the ruble.

Among the foreign offers, camps in Bulgaria (30% of all foreign trips sold in 2018), Turkey (16%) and Finland (10%) were in demand.

Children's vacations in Russia cost an average of 35,600 rubles, while abroad they cost almost twice as much — 68,400 rubles. The cheapest trips were to the Leningrad Region (31,500 rubles), and the most expensive were to Crimea (43,200 rubles). Interestingly, demand for Crimean camps also fell by 11%. RST experts attribute this to the low quality of services and infrastructure on the peninsula.

Abroad, the most profitable camps this year were Turkish camps (on average 44,500 rubles). Children's vacations in the Czech Republic and Greece turned out to be the most expensive (about 85,000 rubles).

It should also be noted that in 2017, the sales volume of children's holidays abroad was 81% higher than in 2016.
