AZUR air airline and Koltsovo airport announced the launch of regular flights from Yekaterinburg to La Romana (Dominican Republic). Flights will be operated by Boeing aircraft. 777-300ER. AZUR air will be the only Russian airline operating non-stop flights on this route.
As the press service of the carrier told the TRN portal, the first flight to La Romana from Yekaterinburg was carried out on October 25 in charter status. During the autumn-winter navigation period, which in 2019 begins in the aviation industry on October 27, flights are transferred to the status of regular, which allows the airline to open ticket sales on this route in its own channels - on the website azurair.com and through a network of authorized agents.
The opening of flights will satisfy the demand of residents of the Ural and nearby regions for direct flights to the Dominican Republic. Before the opening of the direct route, tourists were forced to go on holiday to the Dominican Republic on airline flights from Moscow. According to AZUR air, travelers from the Ural regions account for more than 5% in the structure of passenger traffic on this route, which in 2018 amounted to about 100 thousand passengers.
The launch of direct flights will eliminate the need to organize connections at Vnukovo International Airport and will reduce the overall cost of travel for residents of the Ural region. According to the airline, the average fare to Moscow from Yekaterinburg and back is about 5 thousand rubles (the estimate takes into account only air transport). Thus, by opening flights, AZUR air saves customers from 10 thousand rubles of the family budget when traveling to the Dominican Republic.
The cabins of the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which the company received in 2019, are equipped with a multimedia entertainment system, the content of which includes various films, TV series and music tracks.
Business Class passengers can expect priority service at the departure airport and enhanced onboard service during the flight. All passengers are provided with special amenity kits, including a pillow, sleep mask and earplugs.
