A quarter of travelers did not support the introduction of non-refundable train tickets

Travelers are no longer surprised by non-refundable plane tickets. And starting January 20, non-refundable train tickets will go on sale. However, not for all destinations and not for all trains. Travel service Tutu.ru asked tourists how they feel about this initiative.

 

 

As shown by the survey, in which about 2 thousand people took part, the majority (70%) support the innovation. Of these, 4% said that the idea is excellent, and they will gladly buy such tickets. And 66% admitted that they will choose non-refundable tickets only if they are significantly cheaper than regular ones. According to Russian Railways, the cost of non-refundable tickets will be lower than the cost of refundable ones by 5–20%. The size of the discount will depend on the type of carriage and the period of travel.

Almost a quarter of respondents (24%) chose the option “I don’t like this idea at all.” 6% said they would not buy non-refundable tickets because of their frequently changing plans.

Earlier, Tutu.ru found out the attitude of travelers towards low-cost airlines. The survey showed that a third of passengers refuse to fly low-cost airlines because of Spartan conditions. In general, the majority of respondents (51%) admitted that they fly low-cost airlines. The rest, for various reasons, prefer regular carriers. A third (27%) of voters chose the option “I don’t fly because the flight conditions are too Spartan.” 23% answered that they don’t fly low-cost airlines because they don’t want to deal with all the intricacies and extra charges. Of those who choose to travel by low-cost airline, 48% are sure that it helps them save on air tickets. And 3% answered that they fly this way because low-cost carriers have more of the desired destinations.
