The State Duma supported the idea of easing the visa-free regime in the regions of the Russian Federation

The State Duma supported the idea of easing the visa regime in tourist regions. Sergei Krivonosov, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs, believes that this will help develop inbound tourism, and there will also be an opportunity to replenish budget income from tourism.

On February 6, at the Delovaya Rossiya forum, the Russian president said that it was necessary to expand the experience of short-term visa-free entry into the country's regions. At the same time, he noted that it was necessary to take into account the position of law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"We have been discussing this issue for a long time, but the Foreign Ministry adheres to the position of the "principle of reciprocity". Currently, simplified short-term entry of foreigners with electronic visas is in effect in the Far Eastern Federal District, and an experiment will start in the Kaliningrad Region this summer. We are also taking into account last year's experience of visa-free entry with a fan ID. I believe that it is worth expanding the use of electronic visas in some tourist regions," said Sergei Krivonosov, TASS reports.

In addition, he particularly noted that the whole world is currently fighting for the “rich tourist” and thanks to the easing of the visa-free regime it will be possible to attract precisely this type of audience to Russia.
