Residents of central Barcelona are protesting against so-called “drunk routes” offered to tourists by a number of companies. It is assumed that visitors to the Catalan capital visit several bars and other establishments where they are offered a variety of drinks. Often, such trips end in scandal.
As reported by “Spain in Russian”, the organization of “drunk routes” is carried out by private companies that have agreements with the owners of establishments that provide them with large discounts. Such tours have become a real problem for mass tourism in Barcelona. Invitations for such excursions are handed out right on the streets, and there are quite a lot of people who want to participate in the “drunk tour”.
In the Barcelona district of Ciutat Vella, these routes have already been banned, but residents of other parts of the city center are outraged by drunken tours and have drawn up numerous petitions to the authorities. In the event of violation of public order by participants in such tours, their organizers, as well as the owners of pubs and bars, face a serious fine, however, the city authorities are planning to ban “drunk routes” altogether soon as they are socially dangerous.
