Tourists may be punished for bringing any tobacco products and electronic cigarettes into Qatar, the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism) informs Russians, citing the Qatari embassy in the Russian Federation.
Hookah was also banned. Rostourism has called on tour operators sending their clients to Qatar to warn them of legal liability for importing and storing prohibited goods and products.
Qatar is not the most popular tourist destination among Russians, however, the country does everything possible to attract guests from Russia. Russian citizens can visit Qatar without a visa. As a traditional entertainment for tourists, jeep safaris in the desert with a visit to Bedouin camps in the areas of Al-Ruwais, Dukhan, Umm Said and Al-Zubarah are offered. In the cool season, camel racing (a true passion of the locals) and falconry are regularly held.
