The Crimean authorities have called on tourists to refrain from traveling to the mountains by private transport. The corresponding message was published on the website of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the republic.
As the head of the department Sergei Shakhov noted, due to the loss of a large amount of snow in the mountainous areas of the peninsula, motorists cannot independently get out of the snowdrifts. At the same time, he emphasized that the risk of avalanches in the mountains remains. "According to meteorologists, avalanches are expected in the Crimean Mountains today and tomorrow. We strongly recommend that tourists refrain from going out on mountain routes," the minister said.
Sergey Shakhov also recalled that on December 4, four snow masses with a total volume of 800 cubic meters were recorded on the Yalta-Ai-Petri-Bakhchisarai road, as a result of which the movement of vehicles was suspended. About 100 cars and 300 people remained on the Ai-Petri plateau and were unable to independently descend the highway. The people were evacuated to safe places by the KRYM-SPAS rescuers. The road was completely cleared only by the morning.
