The Moscow suburban train company MTPPK has achieved stunning success in multimodal transportation to Sheremetyevo Airport. It has reported the transportation of “over a thousand” passengers to the airport since the beginning of the year, Travel.ru’s own correspondent is amazed.
Let us recall that we are talking about transferring passengers who arrived to Khimki by commuter train to a minibus to the airport for an extra 200 rubles. “The transfer is most popular with residents of Tver and Moscow,” the carrier stated, although in this case it refrained from giving specific, probably impressive, figures. But now it is possible to calculate some figures without the help of MTPPK.
It is known that the above-mentioned minibus makes about ten trips a day from Khimki to the airport and the same number back - a total of two dozen. A little over a hundred days have passed since the beginning of the year, and a little over a thousand passengers have been transported. With the help of some arithmetic, we get that about 10 people use this popular service per day, that is, about half a passenger per minibus trip.
The official revenue from this vehicle, which is, as far as we know, a “Gazelle Next”, is thus approximately 100 rubles per trip. Unfortunately, MTPPK has not published data on the costs of fuel, driver salaries, rolling stock, or advertising for this record-breaking multimodal service.
But it seems that such economics in any case suits MTPPK quite well, since the company has been keeping the price at 200 rubles since last September. Let us recall that the minibus was initially launched last June at an even more attractive price of 400 rubles (that is, together with a ticket for the commuter train, it was slightly more expensive than the Aeroexpress), but passengers who did not realize their good fortune ignored the minibus. The price was quickly reduced to 300, and then to 200 rubles, which now allows for the transportation of as many as half a passenger per trip.
Meanwhile, as Travel.ru has already reported, a less pretentious and little-advertised, but much more reliable and affordable means of transport has recently become available between Khimki station and Sheremetyevo-2 (F) terminal: bus 62k, departing every 15-20 minutes and arriving in half an hour for 35 roubles (30 roubles with the Strelka card). Its stop is located on the north-eastern side of Khimki station. At the station, be careful – the signs “Bus to Sheremetyevo” lead in the opposite direction, to the above-described minibus for 200 roubles, running every hour and a half.
