Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport has modernized the boards in its terminals. The information is now much better structured and more visual, and most importantly, you no longer have to wait until the board shows the Chinese version, reports our own correspondent Travel.ru.
The board of the public area of Sheremetyevo is now divided by departure hours - this makes it much faster to find the required flight. In addition, there are now two lines for each flight, which has solved several problems at once.
Firstly, the problem of displaying codeshare flights has disappeared. If previously many flights took up 3-4 lines on the board due to the presence of several codes of different airlines and different flight numbers, now all such numbers are simply listed on the second line.
Secondly, the language problem has been solved. Let us recall that about a year ago, the Sheremetyevo board appeared in Chinese due to the presence of numerous Chinese-speaking passengers. As a result, everyone else sometimes had to wait 20-30 seconds until the board returned to the Russian or English version. In the new version, the Russian version is shown constantly, and the English and Chinese replace each other in the adjacent column or second row. Now Russian-speaking passengers always have flight information in front of them, and the waiting time for their version for English-speaking and Chinese-speaking passengers has been reduced by half.
Of the remaining minor shortcomings, one can note the not entirely correct English translation of the phrase “Boarding is over.” At Sheremetyevo, it is translated as End of boarding instead of the more correct Boarding completed or Gate closed.
