Tourists to be fined for swimming in mineral lakes in Spain

On the Spanish Costa Blanca coast, they will begin to impose fines of up to 600 euros on tourists who decide to take mud baths in the mineral lakes of La Mata and Torrevieja.

"Travelers and holidaymakers warned about the ban on swimming in the lakes of La Mata and Terrevieja due to their safety, as there is equipment in the reservoirs that automatically extracts salt. The mechanisms move underwater and can harm tourists. Tourists who violate the rules will be fined from 60 to 577 euros. In addition, private security guards will patrol the area to prevent violations," the Express portal reports.

In addition, the publication also notes that travel companies that conducted excursions to La Mata and Torrevieja have also been warned that organized trips to the lakes are prohibited.

"The ban on swimming in the salt lakes of La Mata and Torrevieja will last until the end of the summer," said the head of environmental protection, Antoni Marzo, the portal reports.

Let us recall that earlier it also became known that from April 1 tourists are prohibited from drinking alcoholic beverages in the central and coastal areas of Palma; for violation, tourists will have to pay a fine of up to 3 thousand euros.
