The future of youth tourism was discussed in Moscow

On November 27, the Strategic Session “The Future of Youth Tourism in Russia” was held in Moscow, where representatives of the government, youth and tourism industry discussed the trends and prospects for the development of youth tourism by 2030.

The participants included representatives public sector, tourism business and youth. Together they developed approaches to tourism development in three areas: government support, business and promotion. The results of the Strategic Session, developed jointly with youth, the public and the tourism industry, will form the basis of a new federal project for the development of youth tourism.

One of the key proposals of the strategy session was the development of a system of discounts on travel around Russia for young people. "It is necessary to develop a system of benefits, and only the state can do this," noted Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy Igor Fomin.

Anton Serikov, Head of the Partner Relations Department of the presidential platform "Russia — Land of Opportunities", also addressed the session participants. He noted that in order to develop youth tourism, it is also necessary to develop the competencies of young people in the tourism industry, and this is precisely what the recently launched personnel competition "Masters of Hospitality" is aimed at. "Masters of Hospitality" is an All-Russian competition aimed at revealing the potential of professionals, forming new traditions, raising service standards and the prestige of professions in all areas of the hospitality industry.

The Competition is open to both tourism industry professionals, students and aspiring professionals, as well as those who meet the requirements three formal criteria:

• age over 18 years (inclusive)
• citizenship of the Russian Federation
• desire and readiness to work in the Russian hospitality industry

The Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North Caucasus Federal District, Alexander Matovnikov, noted that the more diverse infrastructure appears in the region, the more people will come to the Caucasus.

"For the North Caucasus, tourism is one of the key areas of economic growth. Development is proceeding in two main directions: the creation of large tourism clusters and the implementation of private projects, when entrepreneurs offer their services," emphasized the representative of the Head of State in the North Caucasus Federal District.

He also shared that the region needs a single information resource that will connect existing media platforms and routes.

“It is very important for us that potential guests receive maximum information about high-quality tourism products that will help ensure all-season recreation and will stimulate constant interest in various sports – mountain tourism, mountaineering, rafting and others,” noted Alexander Matovnikov.

The new federal project will be developed by Rosmolodezh, Rostourism, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the North Caucasus Federal District and the ANO "Center for Youth Tourism". The organizers are open to proposals for the development of the project, and invite every Russian to send their ideas for the development of youth tourism by December 10 to the project's email: routesofrussia@gmail.com

This event was organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs and the ANO “Center for Research and Development of Youth Tourism” as part of the summing up of the results of the “Routes of Russia” project.

The event was attended by representatives of the authorities, the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the Russian Geographical Society, the Federal Agency for Tourism, the ANO "Youth Tourism Center", tourism industry experts, students of higher education institutions, as well as participants of the "Routes of Russia" expeditions.
