The Russian Association of Air Transport Operators (RAATO) has appealed to the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Alexander Yurchik due to the possible mass disruption of flights during the New Year holidays. The corresponding letter has been published on the official website of the Association.
"The Russian Air Transport Operators Association (RAO) is forced to contact you regarding the critical situation that has arisen in connection with the suspension of the procedure for adding airline aircraft to the Agreements concluded by the Russian Federation in accordance with Article 83 bis of the Convention on International Civil Aviation," the letter states.
As the Association notes, according to airlines’ requests, we are talking about 27–30 aircraft.
"The aircraft were planned in advance by airlines to carry out flight programs during the New Year holidays. The failure to include such a large number of aircraft in the annexes to the relevant Agreements makes it impossible to include them in the Operator Certificates, which will ultimately lead to a massive disruption of flight programs during the peak days of the New Year holidays," the letter notes.
