The Accordion Museum has opened in Tula

A new museum dedicated to the history of the accordion has opened near the Kremlin in Tula. Its exhibition is based on a private collection of more than a hundred musical instruments.

In the "Museum of Grandfather Filimon's Accordion", located in an old building, in addition to Tula musical instruments, there are Saratov, Oryol, Yelets piano, Novorzhev, Vologda, Nizhny Novgorod, Bologoev accordions, rezukhas and accordions, Interfax reports. Visitors to the museum will learn the history of the popular Russian instrument, from miniature turtle accordions of the 19th century to complex concert models of button accordions and bayans. In addition, the museum will host performances, interactive lessons and master classes.

Tula is the birthplace of the first chromatic harmonica in Russia, and, according to some researchers, in the world. It was created in 1878 by musician and founder of the world's first orchestra of accordionists Nikolai Beloborodov.
