A cyclone is approaching Italy, which will spoil the weather for the next two days. Lots of rain, snow and strong winds are expected, writes Centro Meteo Italiano.
An intense Atlantic cyclone will reach the borders of Italy on Wednesday, December 27. Together with it, the territory of almost the entire countries will see heavy rainfall. Heavy rains are expected in northern Lombardy, Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. Sicily and Campania will be hit by bad weather on Wednesday evening.
Forecasters predict precipitation in the form of snow at high altitudes in the Apennines, at an altitude of over 1,000 meters in the central and eastern Alps, at an altitude of up to 7,000 meters in Piedmont. Strong winds are expected on the Italian islands and in the central southern regions.
On Thursday, December 28, rain will continue to fall across much of the country, alternating with snowstorms in the central regions and Emilia-Romagna. A noticeable drop in temperatures is also expected.
Due to possible risks, the Italian authorities have declared an "orange weather alert" in the regions of Abruzzo, Lazio, Liguria, Molise and Umbria. A "yellow alert" has been declared in such popular tourist cities as Naples, Venice and Rome. Those in Sardinia and Sicily are also advised to be careful.
