Moscow buses will lose their turnstiles. This concerns not only city routes, but also suburban ones, including to airports. This was reported by the press service of the capital's Department of Transport.
From January 1, 72 Moscow bus routes will no longer have turnstiles. This mainly concerns large class buses running in the city centre and on popular routes, as well as to Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo airports. In total, about 1,100 vehicles will be turnstile-free. Passengers will now be able to enter through any doors and pay using validators installed in the cabin. If you need to buy a ticket from the driver, it is best to enter through the front door.
The city authorities are confident that the innovation will reduce the time it takes for passengers to board and will also save up to 5 minutes on the road. An increased number of inspectors will monitor fare dodgers. At the same time, the authorities hope that Muscovites and city residents will pay their fares responsibly.
However, many do not rule out that switching only individual bus routes to a turnstile-free system will lead to confusion. Passengers will not know which door to enter.
For those planning to get to the airport by bus in the near future, please remember: buses #611 and 272 going to Vnukovo, as well as #851 to Sheremetyevo will not have turnstiles, while #911 and 817 will still have turnstiles.
