Low-cost Irish airline Ryanair has announced changes to its hand luggage rules from November 1, 2017, the BBC reports.
At the moment, passengers of the low-cost airline have the right to take two bags into the cabin free of charge. One of them should not exceed the dimensions of 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm and be heavier than 10 kilograms, the second - have the parameters 35 cm x 20 cm x 20 cm and, at the same time, easily pass under the seat of the passenger in front. As noted by the company, most passengers try to make the most of the opportunities provided and carry two large bags into the cabin, thereby causing inconvenience to neighbors. Situations that arise on board often lead to flight delays.
From November 1, Ryanair passengers will still be able to carry two bags free of charge, but one of them will need to be checked in before boarding, so that it can then be delivered to the aircraft's cargo hold. At the same time, the company announced a reduction in the price of regular baggage from 35 to 25 euros per item and an increase in the permitted baggage weight from 15 to 20 kg. According to the authors of the "revolutionary" idea, this should help return suitcases and large items to their rightful place, that is, to the aircraft's luggage compartment.
Please note that priority passengers (Priority Boarding ticket holders, including Plus, Flexi Plus & Family Plus) will still be able to carry two pieces of hand luggage into the aircraft cabin.
Earlier, TURIZM.RU reported that the Russian Ministry of Transport had developed a bill defining the rules for carrying baggage. According to it, any passenger, even the holder of the cheapest ticket, will be able to carry 5 kg of hand luggage on board an airplane without additional payment.
