Where do Russians want to go for New Year?

The largest metasearch system HomeToGo conducted a study to determine the most popular destinations for Russians for the New Year. For this, data on the most frequent searches for the New Year period, which were carried out by users on the platform www.hometogo.ru, were used. Russian destinations top the list, while Finland and Estonia were the most popular foreign destinations.

Celebrating the New Year while traveling is becoming increasingly popular among Russians, and they give the greatest preference to Russian cities.

According to HomeToGo, for New Year 2018, Russians are looking for holiday accommodation in the Krasnodar Region (Sochi and Krasnaya Polyana), the Moscow Region and Moscow.

Karelia is in fourth place, and Finland rounds out the top five. Sochi is one of the most popular New Year's destinations thanks to its mild climate, developed infrastructure and the opportunity to combine cultural recreation with alpine skiing.

In its previous study, HomeToGo placed Krasnaya Polyana in 5th place in the ranking of the most profitable ski resorts in Europe.

The Moscow region is traditionally a favorite vacation spot for Muscovites on New Year's Eve - a huge selection of cottages for recreation and proximity to Moscow make this region an excellent place to celebrate the New Year.

Those who seek beautiful untouched nature and winter idyll combined with comfort and convenient transport links pay attention to Karelia and Finland. These destinations are especially popular with residents of St. Petersburg due to their close proximity. And finally, many Russians take the opportunity to visit the capital of Russia during the long New Year holidays.
