Which countries have the most frequent flight delays?

In which popular summer holiday destinations are air travelers most likely to suffer flight delays and cancellations? To answer this question, AirHelp examined data from March 31 to June 15, 2019, and found the number of delayed and cancelled flights in 15 countries that were the most popular among Russian travelers in the summer of 2018.

As the company told the TRN portal, the list of the most unpunctual countries included China, Germany and Greece.

"The main conclusion is that vacationers in China are most likely to encounter flight cancellations or delays. During the period under review, more than 135,000 flights departed from the country's airports at the wrong time: that is, almost every third of the more than 390,000 flights was delayed by at least 15 minutes or cancelled. Germany is in second place among the countries under review (25% unpunctual flights), and Greece is in third place (24%)," the experts note.

In turn, the list of the most punctual countries included Belarus, Moldova and Kazakhstan.

"The least likely country to encounter a flight delay or cancellation is Belarus: during the period under review, only 6% of all flights had something go wrong. A good percentage of problem-free flights were also found in Moldova (almost 9%), Kazakhstan (12%) and Latvia (12.3%)," AirHelp said.

At the same time, the company specified that on popular "beach" destinations, with the exception of Greece, everything is fine with the punctuality of flights. "In the southern countries, which are in demand among Russians as destinations for beach holidays, the number of problematic flights during the period under review was at a fairly acceptable level: 21% in Turkey, almost 20% in Italy, 17.5% in Cyprus, 16% in Bulgaria," the experts say.
